The idea behind "Professionally Staffed, 7x24x365" MSP Monitoring is that someone is vigilantly watching your equipment,  looking for things that might cause future failures.

If all you get is a page or an e-mail after something breaks, we just don't see the value for that service.

Most MSP monitoring products see failures the same time that your customers do.  WHEN SOMETHING BREAKS!

WE ARE NOT A PING/PORT CHECK MSP PROVIDER THAT PAGES YOU ONLY WHEN SOMETHING BREAKS

We have Systems Administrator trained Technicians monitoring every aspect of your equipment every minute of every day of every week.  We trend every resource on every system we monitor, building baselines for what is normal FOR THAT MACHINE!

ACTUAL ADMINISTRATORS ARE DOING THE MONITORING

We develop an understanding of each system's "personality" and what the normal behaviors are for that particular machine.  When anything unusual (for that particular machine) happens, we immediately investigate further.

WE CALL (TRACK DOWN, IF WE HAVE TO) THE CORRECT SOURCE OF SOLUTION IN YOUR ORGANIZATION

We don't send false alarm e-mails and pages.  Real people will fully investigate an issue before anyone is called.  And we will call the right person in your organization to address the particular problem we want to report.  For example, if your Oracle database is misbehaving, we will not spray your whole IT staff with pages.  We will call your on-call Oracle DBA.

YOU CAN'T HAVE 99.999 SLA UPTIME IF YOUR MSP PROVIDER JUST WAITS FOR THINGS TO BREAK

Computers are like people.  Very few people are 100% healthy one minute and dead the next.  It does happen, but typically there are symptoms in advance of death.  If someone was paying attention to these clues, tests could have been run to identify the source of the trouble.  Most of the time, corrective measures can be taken so that death is not the inevitable outcome.  Ditto for your systems.  We consider ourselves to have failed if one of our "patients" just dies.

EVERYONE SAYS THEY DO 7x24x365 MONITORING

A computer in someone's garage that's doing ping/port checks and sprays out pages if it doesn't get a reply fast enough is not 7x24x36 monitoring, at least in our opinion.
